2022 AMERICAN FENCE ASSOCIATION PRO AWARD: COMMERCIAL/Chain Link
PROJECT: LG&E/KU Ghent Power Plant, Ghent, KY
In March of 2023, we accepted this prestigious award in Oklahoma City. Due to the nature of power grid security, we completed this $1,000,000+ project totaled 7,167’ chain-link fence with barbed-wire along with 9 large gates (4 gate-operators) at the LG&E Ghent Power Plant in Ghent, Kentucky on time, under budget, and with zero injuries.
SCOPE OF WORK: Specifications in fully replaced areas with pre-slatted chain-link were designed to withstand 105mph winds, requiring 230 – 6-5/8” OD posts with top, middle, and bottom rail. The entire job was tied with EZ-Twist ties.

2019 AMERICAN FENCE ASSOCIATION PRO AWARD: COMMERCIAL/MULTI-USE
PROJECT: Spalding University Athletic Complex, Louisville, KY
In October of 2019, after months of preparation, hard work, problem solving, and execution, the Spalding University Athletic Complex opened. In March of 2020, we accepted our third award from the American Fence Assosiation (AFA) at FenceTech 2020 in Salt Lake City, UT.
SCOPE OF WORK: Our scope of work on this project displayed our versatile skillset as both fence contractors and sports equipment installers.
We installed 2,288’ of 8’ tall aluminum ornamental fencing including several gates around the perimeter of the facility. We also installed 872’ of 8’ tall, black vinyl-coated chain link fencing for the softball field plus gates.
Along with traditional fencing products, we installed backstop padding, netted batting cages, foul poles, and 1,840 linear footage of netting throughout the project. All netting systems can lowered to protect the life of the nets.
Spalding University’s brand new facility included 3 synthetic turf fields, including 2 multi-sport fields (soccer, lacrosse, & field hockey) and 1 softball field. The complex also has 2 batting cages.
2018 AMERICAN FENCE ASSOCIATION PRO AWARD: COMMERCIAL/MULTI-USE
PROJECT: Churchill Downs (West Side Parking Improvements), Louisville, KY
At FenceTech in March of 2019, we humbly accepted the 2018 American Fence Association (AFA) Pro Award for Commercial Multi-Use for our fence work on the Churchill Downs West Side Parking Improvement Project. This is a national award for exceptional execution of the installation and final product of a broad array of fencing styles & products.
SCOPE OF WORK: This project presented several challenges to accompany the usual issues of large scale jobs. This project at iconic Churchill Downs was one of the largest and most visible projects ever completed in Louisville. We had to meet two critical deadlines for the Kentucky Derby and Breeder’s Cup Classic.
The 7,272′ of fencing included ornamental & chain link fence, gates, operated gates, and barrier arms. Of that, we installed over 4,500′ of ornamental fence with 16 gates. These ornamental gates included pedestrian gates, 40′ wide double swing gates, operated bi-parting track gates, and 40’/50′ single leaf track gates.
We also installed over 2,750′ of 8′ tall chain link fencing with 10 gates and over 850′ of privacy slats. This job also included 4 operated barrier arms, a liquor cage, and several change orders across different applications of fencing.
2017 INTERNATIONAL FESTIVALS & EVENTS ASSOCIATION: GOLD AWARD BEST VENDOR/SUPPLIER
PROJECT: Kentucky Derby Festival (2017), Louisville, KY
In 2017, we were honored to receive the award for the International Festivals & Events Association’s Gold Award for Best Vendor/Supplier for our work on the 2017 Kentucky Derby Festival (KDF). KDF has a unique set of needs, hours, & logistics and we have been able to meet all of those over the years. Our passion for the Festival and the staff that we work with have made this a flagship event for our company.
2012 AMERICAN FENCE ASSOCIATION: NATIONAL FENCE PROJECT OF THE YEAR
PROJECT: Elizabethtown Sports Park, Elizabethtown, KY
In February of 2013, Professional Fence accepted the 2012 AFA National Fence Project of The Year at FenceTech in Houston, TX for our work at the Elizabethtown Sports Park. This honor is for demonstrating unique workmanship and exemplary knowledge of fence installation. This fence project is one of the largest public fence projects in the history of Kentucky.
SCOPE OF WORK: This project required a great deal of efficiency, patience, and professionalism to coordinate and execute the installation. We are proud to call the Elizabethtown Sports Park our flagship project and humbled to receive such an extraordinary award.
The Elizabethtown Sports Park had a vast array of specifications and details for fencing throughout the project. The park included more than 16,000′ of chain link fence on or around 12 baseball/softball fields, Miracle Field (a baseball field designed for children with special needs), 12 soccer fields, 2 football fields, and maintenance facility.
Several fence related sports products were installed by Professional Fence such as safety cap, windscreen, and signage.
